Created by the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, the Hofstra in NYC program connects a diverse cross section of communication students from with industry professionals. Students dorm in Manhattan from June 2-8 and visit television and radio production studios, print and digital newsrooms, large and mid-sized public relations agencies and departments, museums, and other related institutions. They meet and network with industry professionals, some who are Hofstra graduates now working in the amazing New York media industry.

The course is modeled on the Hofstra in L.A. program, which has, for several years, succeeded in getting students to consider career paths they may not have been aware of prior to their participation. Hofstra in NYC continues this tradition through this immersive, two-credit course which began in the late-spring semester with four class meetings designed to inform students on the shape of these industries, and prepare them for their one-week, Manhattan-based immersive experience.
