Friday was a lighter day compared to the rest of the week. We began at SiruisXM, which I really enjoyed. I never considered a job in PR at a radio company, especially SiriusXM, but after taking a tour and hearing all about what the company does, I felt I could see myself doing an internship there. We then had lunch with the wonderful Marielle Legair who had some very valuable advice about how to make yourself into a brand. I loved what she had to say because this is something I am trying to work on as I begin to enter the professional world.
Across the street from the restaurant was the legendary Carnegie Hall, which just so happened to be the last place we would be visiting for the week. Just stepping into the concert hall was a breathtaking experience, especially since I’d never been in it. Additionally, I didn’t know that this nonprofit organization did so much work involved with charities and public service, which I thought could be a great career path for me to look into.
Our final networking activity of the week was a pizza party with some Hofstra alumni. I loved the candid, casual setting of our chat and found their advice to be reassuring.
Our final day of networking was bittersweet. While the week has exhausted me and I’m ready for a good night’s sleep in my own bed, I’m going to miss the hustle and bustle of running to different companies. It was a privilege to meet the impressive, amazing people that we did and see the offices of companies I’ve only dreamt about. This group of my peers also made the experience a million times more fun and I’m grateful for the new friends I’ve made. I’m eager for the more relaxed final day we have tomorrow when we visit the Museum of the Moving Image, yet sad we have closed the final curtain on our networking extravaganza.
